NEW DELHI: A day after election strategist Prashant Kishor declined its membership offer, the Congress on Wednesday said that “our doors and windows are open for anyone keen to join us”.
Addressing a press conference here, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said that the Grand Old Party is in process of making necessary changes to meet aspiration of its workers.
“Our doors and windows are open for anyone keen on joining us. We are a party and we are in the process of making changes in the party and we will definitely make necessary changes to meet the aspirations of the workers and leaders,” Khera said.
He made the remarks while answering a question on Kishor declining the Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi’s offer to join the party.
Even senior party leader Digvijaya Singh, who was on the panel tasked with deciding on Kishor’s Congress resurrection plan, said that the party had to set its house in order.
“I agree. It is ultimately Congress which has to move and put its House in Order. Consultant or no Consultant!! I have a strong hunch the “Chintin Shivir” would lead to bring in a New Congress which is the Need of the Hour,” Singh tweeted.
On Monday, Kishor declined the offer to join the Congress and said that more than him the party needs leadership and collective will to fix the deep-rooted structural problems.
