NEW DELHI: Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025, marking his return to the White House. In his inaugural address, delivered inside the Capitol Rotunda due to inclement weather, President Trump declared, “The golden age of America begins right now.”
Emphasizing an “America First” agenda, he pledged to prioritize national interests, stating, “Our sovereignty will be reclaimed. Our safety will be restored. The scales of justice will be rebalanced.” He criticized previous administrations for what he termed a “radical and corrupt establishment” that had led to national decline, asserting that this decline ends immediately.

During his speech, President Trump outlined several key initiatives. On immigration and border security, he declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy and announcing plans to deploy troops to halt illegal immigration. Regarding energy and environmental policies, he announced a national energy emergency to boost domestic oil production and end the Green New Deal.
On foreign policy and trade, Trump withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Treaty and the World Health Organization, reinstating tariffs to “enrich our citizens” and emphasizing ending international conflicts. He also proposed establishing a new Department of Government Efficiency to reduce bureaucracy and pledged to end the “weaponization” of the Justice Department.

In a symbolic move, Trump announced plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America” and to restore the name Mount McKinley to Alaska’s highest peak, underscoring his themes of national pride and sovereignty.
Trump’s address set a tone of optimism and renewal, asserting that America would become “greater, stronger, and far more exceptional than ever before under his leadership.”
