NEW DELHI: Three persons including a woman were injured after a fight triggered over the barking of a pet dog in outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area.

A CCTV video of the whole attack also surfaced in which a man is seen attacking the pet dog, an elderly man and a woman with a rod. Delhi Police says they have registered a case and started the probe.

The incident took place on Sunday morning when accused Dharamveer Dahiya was strolling outside his house. Some street dogs were also with him. It is when a pet dog, owned by a resident of A block, started barking.

Dharamvir picked the mixed-breed dog by its tail and threw it away. The pet dog’s owner Rakshit Mohlia, 25, came out to save his dog but he was attacked by Dharamvir. In the melee, the dog bit Dharamvir which resulted in a minor scuffle between Dharamvir and Rakshit.

Dharamvir, after some time, returned to the spot with an iron pipe and hit the dog on its head. He also hit Rakshit’s maternal uncle, 53-year-old Hemant Kumar Atal, along with Rakshit. Dharamvir also barged into the house of Rakshit to take back the iron pipe and in the process hit Rakshit’s aunt and Hemant’s wife, 45-year-old Renu.

On the statement of Rakshit, Police have registered a case under sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 323 (punishment of voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 451 (house trespass) of the IPC and 11 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at the police station Paschim Vihar East. An investigation is in progress and facts are being verified, the police said.
