DK Livcon showcases oral thin films, new dosage form in pharmaceuticals at iPEX

NEW DELHI: The 10th International Pharmaceutical Exhibition (iPEX) was inaugurated Wednesday at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida.

The largest event for the Indian pharmaceutical industry drew delegates from over 111 countries, showcasing a broad spectrum of pharmaceutical products and innovations.

One of the exhibitors was DK Livcon Healthcare, which introduced innovative oral thin films for nutraceutical and pharmaceutical uses, offering various products for health and wellness.

Shrish Ahirekar, Founder of DK Livcon Healthcare, while speaking with The New Indian showcased different thin films designed for various purposes. They offer thin films suitable for all age groups.

He said, “Oral thin films are a novel drug delivery system in pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals. They are an effective method that is quickly absorbed on the tongue without water and without swallowing.”

He also demonstrated films targeting interesting purposes like hangovers while they also showed films for sleep issues, anti-ageing, flu, cough, diabetes, anxiety, hair loss, mouth fresheners, physical wellness and more.

Ahirekar added, “In conventional dosage forms like tablets, capsules, and syrups, you need to swallow them for the drug to enter the body, dissolve, and then take effect.

Meanwhile, these films dissolve within the buccal cavity upon contact with saliva, providing instant effects. They are especially helpful for bedridden patients and babies.”

When asked about the cost, he acknowledged that these are expensive products due to their costly manufacturing process and the fact that nutraceuticals are generally a premium range in pharmaceuticals.

However, he added that they offer a range of prices from affordable to premium, depending on the consumer’s needs.
