NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan are meeting yet again after two years for a blockbuster contest in the Super 12 stage of the 2021 T20 World Cup in Dubai on Sunday.

India has a fascinating 5-0 record against Pakistan in the men’s T20 World Cup and are the firm favourites to win their opening match but many believe an unpredictable Pakistan can’t be taken lightly and can turn the tables in this shorter format of the game.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli has downplayed the hype around ‘the mother of all rivalries’ calling it just another game but the fans and cricketing world know very well that there’s no bigger game than this.

There’s no doubt that India skipper Virat Kohli and opener Rohit Sharma are the two biggest threats for Pakistan. In the previous two encounters, the 2018 Asia Cup and the 2019 World Cup, Rohit blasted 111 and 140 respectively, exhibiting his strong batting dominance. As a billion eyes are set to witness a repeat from Rohit’s bat, The New Indian reporters caught up with his coach Dinesh Lad on India’s chances in winning the T20 World Cup and the importance of the vice-captain’s role in clinching it. Sharma’s coach Dinesh Lad, who has been with the Western railways Cricket team for the past 39 years and has coached the same team for more than 15 years.
Dinesh Lad, despite being the coach and mentor of all-rounder Shardul Thakur, was not very confident in his inclusion in the playing XI.

For the All Rounder spot, we can have either Hardik Pandya or Shardul Thakur, it would depend on various factors.

Lad is confident the Mumbai Indians skipper would be able to fill the shoes of captaincy in white ball cricket.

If given a chance, Rohit Sharma would prove to be the best bet for captaincy, he also has proved his leadership skills by winning 5 IPL titles for the Mumbai Indians.

As the New Indian team also caught up with enthusiastic cricket fans, it was also found out that the Kohli vs Babar Azam debate is not limited to Twitter and these fans were beyond the rivalry as they respected the skills and competency of Kohli’s Pakistani counterpart.

“We find the technique with which Babar Azam plays applaudable, sometimes the fine aggression while batting is the deciding factor in the shorter formats”, said a fan.

“I recall Babar Azam instantly when someone talks about the Pakistani Cricket Team,” saidAmman, a 10 year old student at the Netaji Subhash Sports Complex, Jasola.

While Pakistan would desperately look forward to creating history and India under Kohli to maintain their streak, cricket fans across the globe will definitely have the MAUKA for a grand gala time.
