Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday facilitated 400 people who either witnessed partition or belonged to the families that suffered from it.

Dhami was attending an event ‘Vibhishan Vibhishika Memorial Day’ in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar district. The CM also released a book titled Khoon Ke Aansu.

“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that we will celebrate ‘Vibhajan Vibhisika Diwas’ from the Red Fort on this day to remember the sacrifice of countless fighters and their families during partition. It is a day to remember the sacrifice of the lost people,” said the CM.

He also added that in the meeting of the chief ministers held recently, the PM had urged all the CMs to organise Remembrance Day in honour of the partition warriors.

“Families fled by train, bullock carts and other means to save their lives. Despite the long struggle due to the adversities inflicted on them due to the partition, these people rose up to the challenge and made a significant contribution to the development of society,” said CM Dhami.

He said that the people who had suffered from the horrors of partition made a significant contribution to the settlement of the Terai region of Uttarakhand. Even today, these people are making an important contribution to the development of the state.

“Under the leadership of our honourable Prime Minister, we have also taken a pledge to make Uttarakhand one of the best and most unique state in the country. For this, we are working on the mantra of simplification, solution and disposal,” added the CM.

He said that the state and centre are continuously working together for the government to provide facilities to the people of Uttarakhand.

Union minister of state for defence and tourism Ajay Bhatt, who was also present at the event, said, “The enemies of humanity bow down to the fighters of partition who protect humanity and religion from fanatics.”

“These fighters are role models for us and the coming generations, who, even after losing everything, raised themselves with the strength of their courage and are playing an important role in the development of the country today,” Bhatt said.
