NEW DELHI: A selfie-point with Europe-like statues resting on benches — often reflective of a Renaissance period — to make city walks and landscape a charm is the latest addition to Delhi’s growing list of architecture.
Ahead of the G20 summit, the Minister of State for culture Meenakshi Lekhi on Tuesday threw open this decorative modern-day artwork at the bustling South Extension Market in the national capital.

The point also comprises vibrant wall art that has murals based on India’s most laid-back, historic and inexpensive coffee chain — Indian Coffee House, adventure island, and prominent landmarks — just behind the statue, that announces India as a G20 host for the mega three-day event beginning Thursday.
Speaking exclusively with The New Indian, Lekhi said this art is one of India’s exhibits to showcase India’s rich cultural and heritage treasures during the G20 summit.
She also emphasized that the multitude of events, with over 220 completed and approximately 250 planned across 60 locations, has been drawing huge crowds.
Lekhi, highlighting the significance of this global attention, said ” more than a thousand media personnel set to cover the G20 event, underscoring India’s growing importance on the global stage
The New Delhi MP, however, cautioned that there is a need to preserve the beauty of the country’s landmarks and urged citizens to not litter these public spaces.

“Such artefacts are being placed at many different locations all around the national capital,” she pointed pout that.
Addressing concerns about certain countries, like Russia, choosing not to participate in the G20 summit, Lekhi cited “various internal factors that may deter a country from engaging in international events”
