Delhi Police to buy 30,000 tear gas shells

NEW DELHI: In light of the ongoing farmer agitation and ensuring security at all border points of Delhi, the Delhi Police has ordered 30,000 tear gas shells, close sources told The New Indian. Despite repeated attempts no top brass official was available to come on record on the matter.

Considering that farmers should not enter Delhi’s borders by any means, stringent security arrangements have been made at all borders of Delhi, continuously assessing the situation and taking stock of security.

Paramilitary forces and Delhi Police personnel have been deployed at Delhi’s borders. The Farmers have said that they will march towards Delhi on February 21 as their talks with the government didn’t reach any conclusion.

In light of the current situation, Delhi Police is intensifying preparations along with strict security arrangements. It has been reported that such orders for similar items are issued from time to time to maintain stock. Considering the situation at Delhi borders, this stock is being replenished.

The farmers are currently at Sambhu Border which connects Haryana and Punjab. It was the first time during a protest that the Haryana Police used drones to drop tear gas shells on the agitating farmers.

There are now possibilities that the Delhi Police too might use the same strategy to disperse the farmers. The Delhi Police has already told all its personnel deployed at all the Delhi Borders to pull their socks and to stop farmers anyhow from entering into Delhi.
