NEW DELHI: In a tragic incident reminiscent of the Atul Subhash case, a 35-year-old man, Puneet Khurana, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Delhi’s Kalyan Vihar, Model Town. Khurana, who co-owned a bakery business with his wife, Manika Pahwa, was reportedly being harassed by her.
Khurana recorded a 54-minute audio message before his death, detailing his last words. The New Indian has accessed the audio, which has sparked widespread attention.
According to the police, Khurana’s family alleged that he was being harassed by his wife, who was also his business partner. The couple was in the process of getting a divorce. Khurana’s family claimed that Manika had threatened him, stating that their divorce would not remove her from the business. They also alleged that Khurana faced constant harassment from Manika.

The police have recovered Khurana’s phone and will be questioning Manika. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Khurana’s death. His body has been sent to a nearby government hospital for a postmortem examination. The police will decide their future course of action based on the autopsy results.
Authorities are also considering summoning Manika to record her statement as part of the ongoing investigation.

This case has drawn parallels to the recent suicide of Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash, who left behind a detailed suicide note accusing his wife and her family of harassment. The tragic deaths of Khurana and Subhash have sparked a wider debate on the need for balanced legal protections in cases of marital disputes.
