Victim’s mother says the family was unaware of Sakshi’s relationship with killer Sahil Khan
NEW DELHI: The parents of 16-year-old Sakshi, who was stabbed 24 times by her boyfriend in full public glare two days back, have sought death penalty for killer Sahil Khan.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, her mother said that the family was unaware of Sakshi’s relationship with Sahil – who worked as refrigerator and AC mechanic in Shahbad Dairy area of outer northwest Delhi.
Her mother said that Sakshi was a cheerful and independent girl and dreamt of becoming a lawyer. He had recently cleared her class 10 exams and for a month, was staying with a friend whose husband was in jail. She would help her friend take care of her children, she said.
On the day of the incident, her mother spoke to her on the phone. Hours later, Sakshi was first stabbed in her chest and face and then crushed under a boulder by Sahil who had a tiff with her a few days earlier.
Neighbors described Sakshi as self-reliant and friendly.
The postmortem examination found over 30 injury marks, including 24 stab wounds, on Sakshi’s body.

Sahil was arrested from Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh a day after the gruesome murder, on Monday. At the time of his arrest, Sahil showed no remorse and was wearing a sacred threat of kalawa which is worn by Hindus – prompting many people to describe the incident as ‘love jihad’, an act of luring girls from other religions by Muslim men to destroy their future.
He was brought to Delhi and will be presented before a local court on Tuesday. The murder weapon is yet to be recovered.
