NEW DELHI: The national capital was left reeling in shock and anguish as a video depicting the heinous killing of a young Hindu girl surfaced on social media. In the wake of this horrific crime, the Delhi Police swiftly swung into action, managing to apprehend the accused, Sahil Khan, from the outskirts of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.
Early Monday morning, a dedicated team of Delhi Police tracked down Sahil, who had been hiding on a farm in Bulandshahr. Arrested while wearing a blue T-shirt, what struck investigators was the presence of a ‘kalawa’—a sacred thread worn by Hindus—tied around his wrists. Disturbingly, sources within the Delhi Police revealed that Sahil displayed no remorse for his gruesome act.
According to law enforcement officials, Sahil and the 16-year-old victim, Sakshi, were acquainted for several months. Tragically, their relationship took a sinister turn, culminating in an act of brutal murder. It was on Sunday, as Sakshi was en route to attend a birthday celebration, that Sahil attacked her following a dispute between the two. The incident took place in their shared neighborhood, where they often crossed paths.
Originally hailing from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, Sahil had been residing with his parents in a rented accommodation in Delhi for the past two years. Although he worked as an AC and refrigerator mechanic, Sahil also harboured a hobby of creating Instagram videos. His Instagram profile showcased numerous videos of him indulging in the consumption of ‘hokkas’.
Delhi Police, determined to seek justice for the innocent victim, plan to request police custody for Sahil, intending to further interrogate him regarding this chilling case. CCTV footage released by the authorities paints a horrifying picture—Sahil relentlessly stabbing the defenseless girl with an alarming force, targeting her chest, throat, and head until she fell unconscious. The attacker did not stop there, gruesomely pummeling her head multiple times with a large cement brick before callously fleeing the scene without a trace of remorse.
Prompted by an informant’s urgent plea, beat staff from the Shahbad Dairy police station swiftly responded to the girl’s murder, launching an immediate investigation into this heart-wrenching incident. The search for answers and justice is now underway, as Delhi and the nation mourn the loss of an innocent life and rally behind efforts to ensure such horrifying acts are met with the full force of the law.
