Delhi LG Bypasses Elected Govt Of Delhi : Manish Sisodia

Hours after the Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena ordered an inquiry into the issue of power subsidy, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that Saxena is bypassing the elected government by giving orders of inquiries into various issues related to the Delhi government. He claimed the probe orders are “unconstitutional” and “politically motivated”.

This is the fourth department where the Delhi LG has ordered the probe against Delhi government. Earlier, he had ordered inquiry into excise policy, education and transport domains.

Sisodia wrote a letter to LG stating he has limited powers under which he can intervene in the matters of the elected government of Delhi.

Delhi LG Asks Chief Secretary To Inquire Into AAP’s Power Subsidy Scheme

In a letter, released to the media, Deputy CM said, “Lt Governor is bypassing the elected government. All investigations are illegal and unconstitutional. You have no right to give orders in any matter other than land, police, public order and services.”

Sisodia f continued: “All your orders are politically motivated. So far nothing has come out in any investigation. You are requested to act according to the constitution.”

Delhi LG has asked the Chief Secretary to launch a probe into the “irregularities and discrepancies” in the subsidy given by Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) government to power discoms in the national capital. The LG has also sought a report in seven days.

Earlier, the LG had also asked the Chief Secretary to hold an inquiry into the Delhi Excise Police 2021-22 and later sent a report to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The LG had also recommended the CBI to register an FIR.

The CBI arrested four persons including AAP’s communication team head and conducted raids at various places including at Sisodia’s residence and office. The AAP, however, maintained these cases were fake and CBI found nothing concrete against its leaders.
