NEW DELHI: It’s been one week since the incident in Delhi’s Old Rajendra Nagar where 3 UPSC aspirants lost their lives in the basement of Rau’s IAS academy. Students have been protesting since then for their demands. Now several UPSC coaching institutions have announced financial assistance for the victims and free infra for other students of Rau’s academy as they cannot function physically until the investigation is on.
Many other institutions are now providing financial help to victim families and opening their doors to the students of Rau’s academy as UPSC Mains 2024 is scheduled to take place on 20th September 2 months from now.
Vajiram & Ravi:
Vajiram & Ravi said it is “volunteering to admit students free of cost, currently enrolled with Rau’s IAS Study Circle preparing for the Main exam 2024.” “As a sign of solidarity with the families of the departed souls, Vajiram & Ravi come forward to make a financial contribution of Rs. 10 Lakh to each of the three IAS aspirants who lost their lives recently,” it added.
Next IAS:
Next IAS has also announced to provide ₹10 lakh each to the families of three students who lost their lives in the incident. The institute said, “NEXT IAS family (Management and Faculties) has decided to provide ₹10 lakh each to the next of kin of the bereaved families of the three students.” It also acknowledges the disruption faced by students enrolled in the current session at Rau’s IAS institute due to the incident. To support these students, it will provide classes for the remaining syllabus of Rau’s IAS current session without any charge. Our motive to teach (without any charges) is just to help and support students affected by this tragedy,” the chief managing director B. Singh said in a statement.

SriRam IAS:
SriRam IAS coaching institute also announced that they will offer financial assistance of ₹10 lakhs to each of the three victims of Rau’s IAS coaching incident and to the family of Nilesh Rai, who died from electrocution in Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar.
Drishti IAS:
Vikas Divyakirti, founder of Drishti IAS also has pledged financial assistance of ₹10 lakh to the families of the deceased. The institute will provide Rs 10 lakhs each to the affected families. Along with that, the academy also announced free academic support for current students of Rau’s IAS.
RAU’S IAS:
A lawyer of Rau’s IAS Study Circle said the coaching institute will give ₹50 lakhs each as compensation to the families of the three students who drowned in its basement in Delhi. “What we are offering is a ₹50 lakh compensation to each one of the students who has lost his life. Rs. 25 lakhs right away and Rs. 25 lakhs once Abhishek, the CEO of the organisation, comes out and we can meet the financial requirement to pay the remaining Rs. 25 lakhs. I also have committed that the next part will be paid within six months. Different people have different expectations, I am a messenger,” said Mohit Saraf, Advocate of Rau’s Study Circle.
Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana, and Nevin Dalwin from Kerala lost their lives on July 27 when the basement library of Rau’s IAS, which was operating illegally, flooded after heavy rain. The MCD has sealed many such libraries and demolished illegal establishments of several other institutes in ORN and Mukherjee Nagar. Rau’s Academy will start their online classes on the 5th of August according to a student of Rau.
