NEW DELHI: Delhi development minister Gopal Rai inaugurated a 500 KW power plant at Kheda Dabur Gaushala in Nazafgarh on Wednesday and announced to develop it as a model cowshed in the national capital.
The government will install a solar power plant and a biogas plant at the cowshed, known as Hare Krishna Gaushala. “Compost will be made from residues released from biogas,” Rai said.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is taking solid steps towards development of Delhi as a model city, he further said, adding, “The next step of the government is to develop Delhi’s gaushalas as model gaushalas which will also provide various employment opportunities to a large number of people.”
Hare Krishna Gaushala will be developed as a model gaushala in the first phase and later rest cowsheds will follow this model for transforming other cowsheds in the national capital.
Rai said, “This will include adequate provisions for the dwelling, feeding, treatment, and movement of the cows and these gaushalas will be self-sufficient, with environmentally sustainable development”.
He said these upgraded gaushalas will provide employment opportunities to people who will look after maintenance of these sheds. “In addition, farmers, animal keepers, and environmental guardians in these gaushalas will receive training on a regular basis” Rai added.
