NEW DELHI: In a crucial meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday, key discussions were held on law and order in the national capital.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood, and Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora were present, along with senior officials from the Delhi government.

The meeting also included the Union Home Secretary, the IB Chief, and other senior officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Ashish Sood stated that several key issues were discussed, including jail reforms, prosecution procedures, and improvements in collector offices.

He noted, “one of the central concerns raised during the meeting was the safety of women, with officials focusing on identifying dark spots and enhancing CCTV coordination to prevent crime in the capital.”

Sood remarked that the Delhi government is committed to improving security, and a police post in the JJ Cluster, as part of the AAP manifesto, will be implemented shortly.

Sood also highlighted that traffic congestion and waterlogging were pressing issues discussed at the meeting. He criticized the AAP government for failing to act on the Home Ministry’s recommendations regarding traffic management, such as altering bus stands to ease congestion.

He stated, “the Public Works Department (PWD) officials would soon address the waterlogging spots that have caused issues for citizens.”

The meeting also emphasized the importance of national security, with a focus on riot prevention and strengthening crime control measures.

Sood remarked that the discussions would lead to a zero-tolerance policy against crime, with a commitment to monthly review meetings between the Delhi Government, the Home Ministry, and Delhi Police to track progress and ensure the implementation of effective measures.
