NEW DELHI: In adherence to the directives of Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, Food & Civil Supplies Minister, Imran Hussain, undertook a comprehensive inspection of GB Pant Hospital to ensure optimal cleanliness and sanitation standards. This visit was in line with the Kejriwal government’s commitment to providing a clean and hygienic environment for patients receiving medical care.

Accompanied by the Medical Director of GB Pant Hospital and senior staff members from the hospital administration, Minister Imran Hussain meticulously examined various sections of the hospital, including wards and outpatient departments (OPDs). Engaging with patients undergoing treatment, he inquired about their well-being and closely observed the overall arrangements within the hospital premises.

The inspection began on the second floor with a focus on the OPD. Minister Hussain identified areas with damaged false ceilings and promptly instructed the hospital administration and Public Works Department (PWD) officials to undertake swift repairs for the safety and convenience of patients and visitors. Noticing instances of moss and fungus in some toilets, Minister Imran Hussain emphasised the importance of maintaining a hygienic environment for patients. He directed the Medical Director to personally oversee cleanliness drives and urged the hospital administration to enhance lighting arrangements in toilets.

The minister’s scrutiny extended to various wards, including Neuro, Gastrointestinal, and Cardiovascular, where he evaluated the sanitary conditions of toilet blocks. During his visit to the hospital’s free medicine distribution counter, Shri Imran Hussain expressed satisfaction with the existing arrangements but issued instructions to manage potential overcrowding more efficiently.

Highlighting the Kejriwal government’s commitment to healthcare accessibility, Minister Imran Hussain emphasized that all types of treatments, medical tests, and medicines are provided free of cost in government hospitals.

Interacting with sanitation workers and hospital staff, Minister Imran Hussain ensured timely disbursement of minimum wages and directed increased deployment to maintain regular cleanliness in toilet blocks. Addressing the hospital staff, he stressed the importance of delivering quality treatment to patients, reinforcing GB Pant Hospital’s standing as a reputable medical institution.

Minister Imran Hussain encapsulated the essence of his mission, stating, “Positive energy is transmitted through a clean environment. That’s why the cleanliness system in the hospital should be further improved.” This visit reflects the Kejriwal government’s unwavering commitment to healthcare excellence and underscores the pivotal role cleanliness plays in fostering a conducive healing environment.
