NEW DELHI: With just two days left for the Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections 2025, political shifts continue to reshape the battleground.

 

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia announced that Mehtaab Khan, the Congress Vidhan Sabha president from Jangpura, has joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Sisodia shared pictures of himself hugging Khan and welcoming him into the party.

 

 

Sharing the news on Twitter, Sisodia wrote, โ€œMehtaab Khan Raja, the Congress Vidhan Sabha president from Jangpura, has joined the Aam Aadmi Party today. Mehtaab Khan Sahab is a well-known name in both politics and the music industry and is associated with the Delhi Gharana. A heartfelt welcome to him in the AAP family! His arrival will further strengthen the fight for truth and the politics of work.โ€

Khan, a respected figure in politics and music, is associated with the Delhi Gharana, a prestigious school of classical music. His switch to AAP is seen as a strategic move that could strengthen the partyโ€™s presence in Jangpura.

 

Meanwhile, just five days before voting, eight AAP MLAs have resigned after being denied tickets to contest the election.

 

The leaders who stepped down include Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli), Rohit Kumar (Trilokpuri), Rajesh Rishi (Janakpuri), Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar), Pawan Sharma (Adarsh Nagar), Bhawna Goud (Palam), and Girish Soni (Madipur). BS Joon (Bijwasan) was the first to submit his resignation.

The election for 70 assembly seats in Delhi is set to take place soon.

 

Campaigning will end today, February 3. Delhi has 1.56 crore voters, with polling scheduled across 13,766 stations. AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, is seeking a third term after victories in 2015 and 2020.

 

The Congress ruled Delhi for 15 years before AAP, while the BJP has been out of power in the capital for 27 years.
