Summary

Exit polls for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections indicate a BJP victory, with AAP facing a setback and Congress struggling. Final results will be announced on February 8th.

NEW DELHI: Exit polls vividly depicted the political climate as Delhi awaits the final results of the 2025 Assembly elections on 8th February. After 27 years, it is anticipated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will make a big comeback, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may suffer a setback. The Congress party, which dominated Delhi for 15 years until 2013, is predicted to be largely irrelevant.

Exit Poll Predictions

According to multiple exit polls, the BJP is projected to win the Delhi elections, securing between 39 and 49 seats. The AAP, which has governed Delhi for the past decade, is predicted to secure 21 to 31 seats, a significant drop from its previous tallies of 67 seats in 2015 and 62 seats in 2020. A party needs to win 36 seats to form a government in the national capital.

Only one poll suggested a closely contested battle. The AAP is expected to win 32โ€“37 seats, Congress 2โ€“5 seats, and BJP 35โ€“40 seats.

Voter Turnout and Demographics

The 2025 election saw the lowest voter turnout in 15 years, at 57.89%. This reflects a decline from the 62.82% turnout in the 2020 elections. At 66.68%, the North-East Delhi constituency had the highest turnout, while the Karol Bagh constituency had the lowest at 47.40%. Voter demographics revealed a mix of new and experienced voters, with women and young people making up a sizable portion of the population.

What leaders had to sayโ€ฆ

BJP leaders, including Virendra Sachdeva, Mohan Yadav, and Ravi Kishan, expressed confidence in their partyโ€™s victory. AAP leaders, like Sanjay Singh, Reena Gupta, Priyanka Kakkar, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, dismissed the exit polls, citing past underestimations. Congress leaders, including Devender Yadav and Sandeep Dikshit, awaited the final results and were hopeful about their performance.

Most exit polls predict a BJP victory in the Delhi assembly elections, but AAP leaders remain confident, citing past underestimations of their performance. Congress is expected to continue its poor run.

As Delhiites await the final results, the political landscape remains uncertain. As in previous elections, surprises are possible. The final verdict will be revealed on February 8, when the Election Commission of India announces the official results.
