To bring out the talent in the fields of engineering, medical, IT and artificial intelligence, the Delhi government on Thursday opened a new state-of-the-art School of Specialised Excellence in the national capital.

Delhi chief Arvind Kejriwal launched the school in Janakpuri, West Delhi. Delhi Deputy Chief minister Manish Sisodia was also present during the occasion.

“I feel incredibly happy and honoured to be visiting this school today. I don’t believe such a magnificent government school has ever been built in any other part of the country,” said CM Kejriwal.

“I think it is the first time in 75 years that such a splendid government school has been built anywhere in the country. The kind of government schools that we are building over here in Delhi, I think it is setting a benchmark all over the country,” he added.

CM Kejriwal went on to say that there was a time in the country when people believed that government schools could not be run by the state government and should be taken over by private schools to improve their conditions.

“Even when we formed the government in Delhi for the first time, this is what everyone used to tell us. But we have managed to turn the tide and show the residents of Delhi that a government school can be better than a private school,” said Kejriwal.

He further said, “This is our School of Specialised Excellence and it is a new concept that we have started on a large scale in Delhi. The initiative was inspired by the belief that every child has the potential to excel in a variety of areas. We believe that God has given different and specialised skills to different children.”

“One child may be skilled in mathematics or chemistry, another child may be skilled in sports and may understand the intricacies of the game at an early age. So, to develop the inherent quality in each child, we are building various types of specialised schools across Delhi,” he added.

At the same time, Sisodia said, “We freed school land from the clutches of land mafias and ensured that world-class schools are built on public land. Dr BR Ambedkar School of Specialised Excellence will run here so that 1600 children will get a better education than in private schools every year.”
