New Delhi, 20 Feb : Rekha Gupta, who was sworn in as Delhiโs fourth woman Chief Minister on February 20, has distributed ministerial portfolios among the six cabinet members who took oath alongside her. She has retained key responsibilities, including Governance, Personnel, Finance, Revenue, Women & Child Development, Infrastructure, Public Affairs, Oversight, and Institutional Reforms.
Pravesh Sahib Singh has been entrusted with major departments such as Public Works, Legislative Coordination, Water Resources & Flood Management, Water Supply, and Gurudwara Affairs.
In its inaugural cabinet session, the Delhi administration approved the rollout of the Ayushman Scheme and endorsed the presentation of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report in the first legislative assembly session. The new cabinet represents a broad spectrum of communities and professional expertise. CM Rekha Gupta, a legal professional, symbolizes womenโs leadership and the Vaishya community, while Pravesh Sahib Singh represents the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Jat community.
For the first time, two ministers from the Purvanchal region have been inducted, alongside members from Sikh, Punjabi, and Scheduled Caste backgrounds. However, due to the absence of Muslim candidates securing victory in the recent elections, there is no Muslim representation in the cabinet.
The cabinet composition also reflects a balanced generational mix, with five ministers aged between 41 and 50 years, while two members fall within the 51-60 age group. Manjinder Singh Sirsa holds the distinction of being the wealthiest minister in the cabinet, whereas Kapil Mishra possesses the least financial assets.
