NEW DELHI: The suicide case of a class 10 student from Army Public School in New Delhi has ignited a wave of accusations against school staff, with the victim’s family alleging harassment as the cause behind the tragic incident.

The deceased, identified as Dhiraj, was found hanging from the ceiling after allegedly being denied his admit card, according to reports.

In an interview with The New Indian, the victim’s father, Hawaldar Sunil, claimed that his son had been subjected to harassment by the school principal and a teacher, ultimately leading to his decision to take his own life.

“My son and my wife both were harassed. The school principal even misbehaved with my wife. My son was very upset and he committed suicide. I want them to be booked under abetment to suicide. I will fight this legal battle against the school principal and teacher,” Sunil said.

Following the tragic incident, the family filed a complaint with the local police, urging authorities to initiate an FIR in the matter. Despite the absence of a suicide note, the family remains steadfast in their demand for justice.

During discussions with senior police officials, Colonel Mukul Dev, who is assisting the victim’s family, alleged attempts to dissuade them from pursuing legal action. “As more details are pouring in, it has been established now that the erstwhile MD AWES was repeatedly telling the Adjutant General (AG) of the Indian Army since more than three years that this Principal should be removed.

“However, may be due to some vested interests, the AG was interested in keeping her only. Just see the result now…. In fact, even the AG should be booked for this Suicide of the young boy whose Admit Card was not issued by this Principal which also is a fact which has been established now. What a shame,” Mukul expressed on X.

Nevertheless, despite the mounting evidence and outcry for justice, the police have yet to register a case in the matter.
