The Aam Aadmi Party government will present its Budget in the Delhi Assembly on its scheduled date and time, said AAP leader and spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj.

While holding a briefing at the party office, Bhardwaj said : “Today the Finance Minister of Delhi will present the budget in the Assembly. In the month of March, the budget is placed in the Parliament and the Legislative Assemblies of different states and the discussions have already happened on it.”

“Budget is the festival of democracy. This is a very pious action. It has to happen on the scheduled date and time,” said Bhardwaj.

Hours before the Delhi Budget 2023-24 was supposed to be presented at the state assembly, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him not to halt the file of the budget prepared by the AAP led Delhi government. The Delhi Budget 2023-24 is supposed to be presented in the Delhi assembly today by Finance Minister Kailash Gahlot.

Delhi chief minister said that for the first time in the country’s 75-year history, the budget of a state was stopped. He asked the PM “Why are you angry with us Delhiites?. Please don’t stop the Delhi budget. The people of Delhi are requesting you with folded hands to pass our budget,” said Kejriwal in his letter.

“We are calling the world from different countries in the G-20. What would they be thinking if they were reading the newspaper? The stretcher puller in LNJP hospital must be thinking today that the central government is blocking the budget. What would the teachers in the school think? What is the reason? The Prime Minister should give a statement. is on record,” said Bhardwaj.

Raising doubts on Delhi’s Chief Secretary and Finance Secretary, Bhardwaj said both are working on the direction of LG and central government. “Our finance minister said on record that our budget was prepared on March 10 and sent to the Home Ministry. From there some questions were sent to Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar on March 17. But it was not sent to the CM or the Finance Minister.”

He said the Chief Secretary is making every effort to stop the work of the elected government of Delhi. “The budget is on 21 March. Saturday and Sunday were holidays. Ministers themselves prepare answers to questions and on March 20, at 6 pm, the news came that the budget of Delhi has been stopped by the central government. Where are these chief and finance secretaries?” asked Bhardwaj.

On the question of expenditure on advertisement being increased multifold by the AAP government, Bhardwaj said, “The lie is being told that the capital expenditure is low and the advertising budget is high. There is a capital expenditure of more than 20 thousand crores. At the same time, the budget of advertisement is about 500 crores, which was also last year.”

Countering the allegations of over-expenditure on publicity, Bharadwaj said, “Take out the newspapers of Delhi. There are posters and advertisements of Yogi of UP, Khattar of Haryana, Dhami of Uttarakhand, CM Shivraj of Madhya Pradesh. There is advertisement on every pillar in Gurugram,”he added.
