The New Delhi constituency is shaping up to be a high-profile battleground between the former CM against two sons of former CM.
In this seat, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal will face off against Parvesh Verma of the BJP, the son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, and Sandeep Dikshit of Congress, the son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit.
The contest in this constituency is not just political, but also expected to be marked by caste dynamics. While Verma is a Jat, Dikshit is a Brahmin, and Kejriwal belongs to the Baniya community.
The Kalkaji constituency is set to witness another high-stakes contest between AAP’s Chief Minister Aatishi Marlena, Congress’s Alka Lamba, and BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri.
Lamba, who was elected as an AAP candidate from Chandani Chowk in 2015, later joined Congress in 2019.

Her association with AAP ended in 2019 following disagreements over a resolution in the Delhi Assembly that sought to revoke the Bharat Ratna awarded to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Bidhuri, a seasoned BJP politician, on the other hand, has been in the spotlight for his controversial remarks, which have sparked public debates.
In the Jangpura constituency, Congress has fielded Farhad Suri to challenge AAP’s Manish Sisodia, who previously served as the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister.
The battle in Rajouri Garden sees Congress’s Dharmpal Chandela contesting against AAP’s Dhanwati Chandela, who is also the current MLA from the area.
BJP on the other hand has fielded prominent Sikh leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who joined the party in 2021 after resigning from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
Congress President for Delhi Pradesh, Devendra Yadav, is contesting the Badli constituency, where he will face off against incumbent Ajesh Yadav from AAP and BJP’s Deepak Chaudhary.
The Bijwasan constituency presents a unique situation with a clash of former AAP leaders. Congress has fielded former MLA Colonel Sehrawat, who was expelled from AAP in 2016 over allegations involving party leadership.
Sehrawat, who has also been associated with the BJP, had previously defeated the BJP candidate in 2015 but chose not to contest in 2020.
AAP has fielded Surender Bharadwaj, a former Samajwadi Party member, while BJP has chosen Kailash Gahlot, a former AAP minister, as their candidate for the seat.
AAP made a historic sweep in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, winning 67 out of 70 seats, leaving the BJP with only three.
Congress, in that election, failed to open its account. AAP repeated its success in 2020 with 62 seats, while BJP improved its tally to eight, and Congress remained seatless.
The Congress dominated Delhi’s political landscape before AAP’s rise to prominence. Sheila Dikshit led the Indian National Congress to three consecutive electoral victories in Delhi.
