The event ‘invest for defence’ is targeted to promote investment in the defence sector in the country both by the Indian industry as well Foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers.
Union Defence minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate ‘Invest for Defence’, a marquee event of the Ministry of Defence on October 20th, 2022. The event will take place during the 12th edition of DefExpo2022 which is going to start from October 18 to 22 at Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
The event, ‘Invest for Defence’, is targeted to promote investment in the defence sector in the country both by the Indian and foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), the defence ministry said in the statement.
The defence ministry said the event is anticipating the participation of both Indian as well as foreign original equipment manufacturers, such as L&T, Adani Defence, Bharat Forge, Saab, Airbus, Lockheed Martin etc., besides participation from domestic and foreign institutional investors and venture capitalists.
‘Invest for Defence’ will highlight the requirements for ‘ease of doing business’ in the defence sector of the Armed Forces and policy reforms undertaken by the government.
It provides the industry with the opportunities and advantages of investing in the sector and thus contributes to maximising indigenous production.
Another highlight of the event will be a business-to-business interaction among the OEMs, including both Defence Public Sector Undertakings and foreign OEMs, on the ‘Opportunities from large platforms’. Concurrent with this B2B interaction, an Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) pitching event for aspiring defence start-ups is planned.
The event will feature a panel discussion between the industry stalwarts and the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces leadership. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session, wherein participants can ask questions of eminent panellists.
The target audience for the event is industry representatives, including those from MSMEs and startups, policymakers and enthusiasts in the defence sector, according to the ministry release.
