The sad demise of Heeraben Modi, mother of Prime minister Narendra Modi, has bridged the divide that politics creates, even if for a moment.
Political leaders from various parties expressed condolences on the demise of Heeraben, who passed away in Gandhinagar on Friday morning.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his deepest condolences to PM Modi and wrote, “The news of the demise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Hira Ba is extremely sad. At this difficult time, I extend my deepest condolences and love to him and his family.”
He further wrote, “The death of a mother is an unbearable and irreparable loss for a son. A mother is a whole world to a son. The death. The demise of the respected mother of honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very sad. May Lord Shri Ram grant the departed pious soul a place at his holy feet. Om Shanti!”
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge tweeted, “Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Smt. Heeraben Modi. My heartfelt condolences go to Narendra Modi on the loss of his beloved mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family in this hour of grief.”

“At this difficult time, I extend my deepest condolences and love to him and his family,” former Congress President Rahul Gandhi says of PM Modi’s mother’s death.
All India Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamta Banerjee said, “Your mother is our mother.” On the demise of Heeraben Modi, she expressed her heartfelt condolences to the PM. She stated that “there is no substitute for a mother”. The West Bengal Chief Minister wished Prime Minister Modi the strength and courage to bear such a great loss.

AIMIM Party chief Asaduddin Owaisi wrote an elegy for Heera ba on Twitter, “Khak e Markad Par Teri Lekar Ye Faryad Aun Ga Ab Duaye Neem Shab Mein Kis Ko Main Yaad Aun Ga Kulba e Aflaas Mein, Daulat Ke Kaashane Mein Mout Dasht o Dar Mein, Shehar Mein, Gulshan Me Weerane Mein Maut”.
