Multiple reports have indicated that Dawood is under strict security surveillance, although no official confirmation has been received yet from Pakistan.
In various instances, false reports surrounding the health and demise of the notorious underworld figure have circulated in the media.
In 2020, unverified claims suggested that Dawood and his wife had contracted COVID-19, and some even speculated his death from the virus. However, these assertions were proven to be untrue.
Similarly, in 2017, reports emerged stating that he had died from a heart attack, possibly linked to a brain tumour. These reports were later debunked, and his close associate Chota Shakeel affirmed that Dawood was in good health.
The trend of misinformation continued in 2016 when social media propagated a rumour that Dawood had developed gangrene in his legs, potentially requiring amputation. Yet, investigations revealed that these reports were also unfounded, adding to the series of speculations surrounding the underworld figure’s health over the years.
Dawood, born on December 26, 1955, in Mumbai, has emerged as a notorious Indian mob boss, drug lord, and terrorist, prominently known as the founder of the D-Company. His criminal journey, beginning in the 1970s, spans a range of illicit activities, from fraud and theft to gold smuggling, real estate dealings, extortion, and drug trafficking.

Dawood’s empire, expanded globally, amassing over 5,000 members, and generating substantial revenue by the early 1990s. His involvement in the 1993 Bombay bombings marked a significant turning point, leading to him being globally designated as a terrorist, with a $25 million reward on his head.
His current activities reportedly involve terror funding, drug trafficking, gunrunning, extortion, and money laundering. The infamous figure’s influence extends to controlling a significant portion of the Hawala system and alleged connections to financing attacks in India.
Ibrahim’s elusive nature is further complicated by conflicting reports about his location, with India claiming him to be in Pakistan and the government denying such allegations.
Haseena Parkar, fondly known as Aapa in the criminal underworld, carved a niche for herself beyond being the younger sister of the notorious Dawood. Her entry into the criminal realm was spurred by tragedy when her husband, Ibrahim Parkar, fell victim to the Arun Gawli gang’s violence in 1991.
Following this loss, Haseena established her presence in the Gordon Hall Apartments in Nagpada, leading a crime syndicate with remarkable influence. Notably, she engaged in real estate dealings, facilitating builders in securing permissions from slum dwellers for redevelopment under the SRA schemes.
Haseena’s international connections were equally noteworthy, as she played a pivotal role in negotiating overseas rights for Bollywood films, especially for Central Russia and Gulf countries.
When she died in July 2016, she had amassed over Rs 5,000 crore in real estate. A movie was also made on her life with Shraddha Kapoor acting in the role of the mafia queen in the movie “Haseena: The Queen of Mumbai”.
Dawood has been on the run since the 1990s and is suspected to have found refuge in Pakistan, last seen at former cricketer Javed Miandad’s residence, during a party, on April 19.
Sources indicate that the party was related to the familial connection between Dawood and the Miandad family. Javed’s son, Junaid, has been married to the underworld don’s daughter Mahrukh since 2005.
Despite such social engagement, Pakistan consistently denies Dawood’s presence within its borders.
In a recent revelation, Dawood Ibrahim’s nephew, Alishah Parkar, informed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that he has remarried in Pakistan. Currently, he is residing in Karachi with his family.
The NIA is actively investigating a case related to a global terrorist network and a criminal syndicate involved in both terrorist and criminal activities in India.
According to Alishah, Haseena’s son, Dawood’s second wife is called Maizabin, a Pakistani Pathan.
The NIA had filed a chargesheet in November 2022, against the don, detailing the family’s composition, including his three daughters, Mahrukh, Mehrin and Maziya, alongside a son, Mohin Nawaz.
