Court takes cognisance of ED’s chargesheet filed against Kejriwal

New Delhi: A Special ED court on Tuesday took cognisance of the chargesheet of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy Scam. The ED has made Kejriwal an accused in the case.

Judge Kaveri Baweja after taking cognisance of the matter, issued a production warrant for Kejriwal for July 12.

Soon after this, AAP Hit Back at ED Charges saying that the central federal probe agency was working at the behest of the Modi Government. They said that the BJP wanted to destroy the AAP.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Secretary Pankaj Gupta responded to ED charges, accusing the BJP of conspiring to destroy AAP at any cost. Gupta claimed the central government was behind the conspiracy. He said that despite ED’s efforts, no evidence of corruption was found against Kejriwal.

“The BJP wants to eliminate AAP, but the ED has not found a single penny of corruption,” Gupta said.

Kejriwal was placed under arrest by the ED in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy Scam. He was lodged at jail no 2. He was recently released on interim bail by the Supreme Court to participate in the election campaign.

After the expiry of the interim bail, Kejriwal surrendered at Tihar Jail. He then moved a fresh bail plea before the trial court. After the argument, he was granted bail.

To date, the ED has conducted searches on 245 locations across the country including Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and other places. 15 Persons including Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and Vijay Nair from AAP have been arrested in the case so far.

ED has filed one Prosecution Complaint and five Supplementary Complaints in the case so far.
