NEW DELHI – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has vehemently condemned the appalling spate of violence in Manipur. Reacting to the video showing two women being assaulted, he expressed deep concern, stating, “The incident has put humanity to shame,” while questioning the silence of NDA partners on the matter.

Chadha expressed dismay over the BJP’s failure to acknowledge the grave situation in Manipur, questioning if this aligns with their vision of a “New India.” He further questioned whether the current state of affairs in Manipur reflects the India of the 21st century, as the Prime Minister boasts during his international trips.
The AAP leader launched a scathing attack on the Prime Minister’s silence, noting that despite tweeting about incidents worldwide, the PM remained silent on the violence within India’s borders for almost 80 days.

Highlighting the neglect faced by Manipur, Chadha criticized the BJP-led central and state governments, referring to the “double engine government” as resulting in “double the destruction, double the brutality, and double the exploitation” for the border state.
Earlier, another AAP leader Atishi has questioned why the Prime Minister hadn’t visited the strife-torn state and instead chose go on international tours.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the incidents linked to sexual atrocities in Manipur, stating, “What has happened to the daughters of Manipur can never be forgiven, and the guilty will not be spared.” He also urged all state chiefs to prioritize and ensure the safety of women.
