Rishi Sunak’s ascend to the seat of British Prime Minister has a connection with the partial solar eclipse that occurred on Tuesday, said an astrologer.

A partial solar eclipse shrouded part of the globe – including India and Britain – as Sunak officially became the UK’s first-ever Prime Minister of colour.

Saying that the solar eclipse played a big role in Sunak becoming the first non-Christian to become the Prime Minister of Britain, Dr Pratik Mishra Puri, noted Jyotishacharya and president of Prachi Vidya Society, Haridwar, said, “Rishi Sunak’s birth took place in Karka Lagna. Karka Lagna is on the fourth number in his planetary chart and that is positive for him and helped him to become the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.”

According to Dr Mishra, Rishi Sunak was born in Ashwini Nakshatra (Mulo) and Sun is placed in the tenth place in his planetary chart, the same placing as it is in Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s planetary chart.

“People having such a placement of the sun in their planetary chart have much chance of becoming king from birth. Such people don’t have to contest for election to become a king, they are born kings,” Dr Mishra said.

“Karka Lagna prime ministers are very close to the public and become very successful, like India’s first Prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru. His daughter Prime minister Indira Gandhi also had the Karka Lagna in her planetary chart,” Dr Mishra said.

Rishi Sunak on Tuesday became UK’s first Indian-origin British Prime Minister after being invited by King Charles III to form a government. Sunak met the king at Buckingham Palace after the latter accepted the resignation of Liz Truss.

The 42-year-old investment banker-turned-politician comes from a Punjabi Khatri family and his paternal grandfather had moved to Africa from Gujranwala before India gained Independence. Gujranwala is now in the Punjab province of Pakistan.

Later, Sunak’s father moved to the UK and Sunak’s birth took place in the UK on May 12, 1980. Sunak got to the PM’s chair after winning the Conservative Party leadership race by edging out former PM Boris Johnson, who withdrew, and House of Commons leader Penny Mordaunt, who could not muster the necessary support.
