BJP national president JP Nadda addressed a massive rally in Haveri district of Karnataka

A day after former Karnataka chief minister Jagadish Shettar jumped ship, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) trained its guns on Congress as the battle for Karnataka heated up.

Addressing a massive public rally in Haveri, Nadda highlighted the corruption that has become synonymous with Congress. The Congress party means corruption, commission and crime. If the Congress party government is formed in the state, it will lead to a massive increase in corruption, crime and commission,” Nadda said.

“Whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party government once again will ensure growth and development are done more rapidly. We are committed to taking Karnataka on a new path of growth, development, progress and prosperity.” Nadda said.

On his first state visit since the party announced the names of candidates for the assembly election, Nadda also attacked the former Karnataka CM and one of the tallest Congress leaders from the state, Siddaramaiah.

“The Siddaramaiah government had made Karnataka the ATM of the Congress party. The Congress party wants that the money meant for the development and growth of the people of Karnataka be diverted to the “darbar” of one family in Delhi,” he said.

“The people of Karnataka will never allow this to happen. And to stop this, the people of Karnataka have already made up their minds to let the lotus bloom once again in the state and to give the BJP a massive mandate,” Nadda added.

Nadda also accused Congress of patronizing the anti-national outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), which was banned by the BJP-led central government in September last year.

“The Congress party government, led by Siddaramaiah, gave patronage to the radical PFI. It removed several criminal cases lodged against the PFI activists and even released several criminal elements,” Nadda said.

“On the other hand, our government banned PFI for its anti-national activities. And if people in Karnataka want this ban to continue, they will have to press the lotus symbol in the EVMs,” he added while asking people to vote for the BJP in the assembly election.

“The people of Karnataka should not forget that during the Siddaramaiah government, criminal activities have peaked in the state. It is the Bharatiya Janata Party government that took action against criminals and anti-social elements who are now lodged in jails across the state,” Nadda pointed out.

Nadda also accompanied Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai to file his nomination papers at Shiggaon. “This filing of a nomination is not just for the assembly elections; it is a nomination that will give an altogether new direction to Karnataka,” Nadda said.

“The people of Shiggaon have once again decided to send Bommai to the Karnataka Vidhan Sabha by ensuring his victory with a massive number of votes,” he added while expressing confidence in Bommai winning the seat.
