Party sources have further revealed that TMC has once again demanded a seat from the Grand Old Party in Meghalaya. However, it has also been suggested by the Bengal CM that regional parties should not field candidates from states where the saffron party is directly contesting against the Congress party.
She also highlighted that in similar fashion, the Mallikarjun Kharge-led party should “listen to the views of regional parties” where they are more powerful. According to sources, she had also sent a message to former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party to share seats with the Congress in the state. Earlier, Yadav had asked for a share of the Grand Old Party’s seats during the state assembly elections.

Banerjee also advised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to hold talks with political parties which have considerable sway in their states, such as Shiv Sena, Aam Aadmi Party and the SP.
Earlier during the Assembly elections in five states, Congress was only able to secure Telangana, while the BJP secured three states, including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
However, discussions regarding the Prime Ministerial face still remains to be discussed.
