NEW DELHI: Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel slammed the government for harassing Rahul Gandhi as Congress continued their ‘satyagrah’ against the former party chief’s questioning by the Enforcement Directorate.

Several Members of Parliament from the party, leaders and workers were detained by the Delhi Police soon after they stepped outside the party headquarters to march towards the Jantar Mantar in central Delhi.

Speaking to the media, Baghel said, “There are two agendas. First is the Agnipath. The youths of our nation are protesting against this scheme with violent protests. Protests can be seen from Bihar to Haryana.”

“While the second agenda is that, with the help of ED, they are troubling Rahulji in the National Herald case,” he added.

Baghel said that he along with six other senior party leaders on Monday met President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhawan regarding these agendas. He said that we can’t make a mess or joke about our nation’s security or about our army or the youths of our country.

Talking about the Agnipath scheme, Baghel asked, “What will these kids do after 4 years? Every day they are making new changes in this scheme because now they are talking about hiring them as ‘chaprasis’ at BJP offices.”

Taking a jibe at Haryana Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar, who said that after four years he will hire everyone, Baghel said, “But the question is after four years will you form a government? Plus there is no reservation in the army. If you are appointing or selecting them with a state quota that means there will be no quota in Haryana from now on,” he said.

He said, “Second point is how and why Rahul Gandhi is being harassed by the agency in the National Herald case from the last five days. They are asking him the same five questions.”

Accusing the government of indulging in vendetta politics, the Congress leader said, “Rahul Gandhi has always voiced his opinion and fought for farmers. He raised the topics of unemployment, inflation, the rights of youth and women and corruption. They have been calling him to ED to stop him from raising his voice.”

Slamming the Delhi Police’s actions, the Chief Minister said, “There was no written complaint to arrest these people. The CBI raided the house of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who is with Rahulji from Day 1.”

Levelling a serious charge on the government, Baghel said, “And to my knowledge, now with illegal methods, phones are being tapped in Chhattisgarh,”

Several party MPs including Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Gaurav Gogoi, Ranjeet Ranjan and Shakti Sinh Gohil along with over 300 party workers were detained outside party headquarters.
