Congress on Saturday said that it will launch its “Haath Se Haath Jodo” campaign as a followup to the party’s 3,570 km Bharat Jodo Yatra from January 26. It will be a door-to-door campaign to spread the message of BJY.

Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Congress General secretary KC Venugopal said, “Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan’ will begin on January 26, which will be a house-to-house campaign to spread the message of Bharat Jodo Yatra to common people.”

He along with Jairam Ramesh also released the logo of the Haath jodo campaign and a one-page chargesheet against the Union government.

“Today, we released a chargesheet against the Modi government, and respective state Congress units will make chargesheet, if needed, against respective state governments,” he added.

Venugopal, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP highlighted how the Bharat Jodo Yatra has been a success across the country as it was able to highlight the issues of the people.

He said that the Haath se Haath jodo abhiyan will highlight the success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra and also deliver the message of Rahul Gandhi to every house along with the one-page chargesheet against the Central government.

Venugopal said that the yatra is in the final phase and it is in Jammu and Kashmir.

On January 27, 28, and 29, the yatra will be in Kashmir Valley. On January 30, the culmination of the yatra will take place after Rahul Gandhi will hoist the national flag at the Srinagar PCC office in Lal Chowk area of the city and will address a public meeting.

The Congress leader said that the main issues raised through this yatra were unemployment, price rise, and divisive politics of BJP and union government.

“After 120 days of the historic programme, Congress got enough input from the people of the country. While walking lakhs of people spoke to Rahul Gandhi. We can understand the pain of people. They are suffering from policies of BJP government. And it reflected in the entire yatra. Thus this Haath se Haath jodo abhiyan which will start on January 26,” Venugopal said.

Meanwhile, Jairam Ramesh said that Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan is a political programme unlike Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is more a walk for ideological purposes.

Speaking about the logo and colour of Bharat Jodo Yatra logo and Haath se Haath Jod Abhiyan logo, Ramesh said, “The colour and design of the yatra and Haath se Haath Jodo are same. In BJY there was no election symbol of Congress and in haath se haath jodo abhiyan it is there.

“BJY was not political. But Haath se Haath Jodo abhiyaan our target is clear to highlight the failures of Modi government and it is a complete political programme,” Ramesh said, adding that Haath se Haath jodo is the second phase of BJY.

Ramesh also said that Rahul Gandhi will address a press conference in Jammu on January 24.

The yatra, which started on September 7 from Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari is being spearheaded by Rahul Gandhi.

It has passed through the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab, and the union territory of Delhi.

The yatra entered Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening in Kathua, where former erstwhile state chief minister Farooq Abdullah too joined. On Friday, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) faction MP Sanjay Raut too joined the yatra alongside Rahul Gandhi.
