NEW DELHI: Minister of women and child development of India, Smriti Irani lashed out at the Punjab Government of congress for the major lapse in the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She held a press conference and said that “Never before in the history of our country were police functionaries in a state directed and convenienced to breach the security of a Prime Minister and bring him harm”.

We know the Congress hates PM Modi, but today, they tried to harm the Prime Minister of India. Such is the breakdown of law & order in Punjab that the DGP, Police claims he’s incapable of providing security support to the PMO and security details.

PM Narendra Modi, who had landed in Bathinda early this morning, could not address the public rally at Ferozepur, following a security breach that took place after he was held up on the road stretch for 15 minutes.

Sudhanshu Trivedi, MP Rajya Sabha who was also in the press conference said that “Today such an incident has happened, which is unprecedented in the history of India. In the era of terrorism and even in the areas affected by terrorism, there was no such type of security lapse, as happened with the security of the Prime Minister today.”

“The questions we, as BJP karyakartas and the nation needs to ask the Congress govt in Punjab is – Why did the DGP Police gave an all-clear to the PM’s security detail for the route that the PM was to undertake”, Irani said.

Congress Leader Sunil Jhakkar also expressed his concern over the matter and said “What has happened today is just not acceptable. It’s against Panjabiyat. A secure passage for the Prime Minister of India to address BJP’s political rally in Ferozpur should have been ensured. That’s how democracy works.”

Prime Minister was scheduled to lay foundation stones of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 42,750 crore that include Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, four landing of Amritsar-Una section, PGI satellite centre at Ferozepur and two medical colleges at Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur.
