Concentrate on securing 51% plus votes in LS polls: JP Nadda to J&K BJP Unit

JAMMU: BJP National President on Monday asked the J&K BJP unit to concentrate on securing 51 percent plus votes in the Lok Sabha polls scheduled to be held in April-May this year. BJP President made these remarks while discussing the poll strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with the core group members and senior functionaries of the J&K BJP unit virtually today.

BJP President JP Nadda’s scheduled visit to Jammu today was cancelled due to bad weather conditions. However, he later addressed the core group and senior leaders meeting virtually.

BJP President urged party leaders to defeat the designs of the INDIA bloc by way of putting up a united candidate against BJP. JP Nadda sought complete feedback from Core Group members of the party on the poll preparedness and implementation of party programmes and Central Government public welfare schemes and projects.

The BJP President asked party leaders to ensure that public contact is made with the common masses in the UT on the grassroots level. He said that people should be apprised about the Central Government schemes launched for their welfare and upliftment of economic conditions. BJP President JP Nadda also took a review of the party’s flagship programme of Booth Jansamwad Abhiyan and asked the party cadre that they should fully concentrate on strengthening polling booths which is a key to the party’s success at hustings.

“You have to seek feedback from the beneficiaries of various Modi Government schemes like Ayushman Bharat, Gareeb Jan Kalyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padao, Ayushman Bharat, Ujwala, PM Vishwakarma Yojna, welfare schemes for farmers, Gujars, SCs, OBCs, women and downtrodden sections of the society,” he added.

BJP National President said the party has to ensure a grand-scale celebration of the Shri Ram temple inauguration which will be held in Ayodhya on January 22 in their respective areas and the day should be celebrated like Diwali all over. He also urged them to concentrate on Kashmir through Booth Jansamwad Abhiyan and ensure that the vote percentage in the Kashmir valley is increased.

JP Nadda also reviewed the progress of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and said this is another flagship and a novel programme to take Government schemes to the doorsteps of the people. The BJP National President also stressed on enrolment of first-time voters. He urged leaders representing various communities like Gujjars, Bakerwals, Kashmiri Pandits, minorities and SCs/ OBCs to ensure that these communities are not left behind while availing of Central Government Schemes.

J&K BJP UT President Ravinder Raina said that 2500 programmes were held in J&K under Booth Jansamwad Abhiyan out of the targeted 3000 programmes and the rest will be completed soon. He said 2.5 lakh people were involved in these programmes. The meeting was attended by party National General Secretary Tarun Chugh and Co Incharge J&K Ashish Sood and National Secretary Dr Narinder Singh.

The BJP Core Group and senior leaders present in the meeting besides Raina included Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, party general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, Dr Nirmal Singh, Kavinder Gupta, Sunil Sharma, Vibodh Gupta, Dr Devender Kumar Manyal, Sunil Sethi, Shakti Parihar, Devinder Singh Rana, Ajay Bharti, Gulam Ali Khatana (MP), Shamsher Singh Manhas, Sham Lal Sharma, R S Pathania, S S Slathia and Balwant Singh Mankotia.
