CHANDIGARH/NEW DELHI: Under-recovery Indian Army officer Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath has politely turned down the request to appear and record his statement before the special investigation team (SIT) set up by Punjab Police to investigate the assault on him and his son on the intervening night of March 13-14.
Bath, while hinting at the erosion of trust on Patiala Police under SSP Nanak Singh who did not file the FIR for eight days despite grievous injuries on face and fractures on him and his son while recuperating at state-run Rajindra hospital, has said he would wait for ongoing Punjab and Haryana high court proceedings first.
โSince the Punjab and Haryana high court, Chandigarh is seized of matter pertaining to the instant FIR, therefore in the view of the matter being sub judice, it is requested to you that the present proceedings may be deferred till the outcome of the aforementioned petitionโ Bath wrote to SIT chairman of Punjab Police on Tuesday
Earlier on the same day, Punjab and Haryana HC came down heavily on Patiala policemen, especially SSP Nanak Singh.
