NEW DELHI: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Tuesday visit to Deoghar and the upcoming Shravani Mela.

During his visit, the prime minister will perform a puja at Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar. He will also inaugurate Deoghar airport and launch OPD services at AIIMS.

Constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 400 crore, the Deoghar airport will provide direct connectivity to Baba Baidyanath Dham. It is equipped to handle more than five lakhs passengers per year.

Soren was briefed by senior government officials on the preparations. He directed them to complete arrangements for Kanwariyas who would come to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva during the Shravani Mela starting July 14.
