NEW DELHI: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has announced a revamped human resource policy aimed at improving work-life balance, fostering skill development, and addressing evolving security challenges. This landmark policy replaces the 2017 guidelines and introduces several firsts, impacting over 98% of the force’s personnel.
Personnel will now have the opportunity to list 10 preferred posting locations, introducing a significant shift in transfer policies. This choice-based system allows individuals to have a say in decisions that impact their personal and professional lives. Retirees will also benefit from receiving priority postings based on three preferred locations.
Women personnel will now enjoy choice postings after six years of non-choice postings, addressing the unique work-life balance challenges they face. Married couples will also benefit from increased opportunities to work in the same location, promoting family stability and a more supportive work environment.

Posting orders will adhere to a fixed timeline, with retirees’ orders issued by December 31, women’s by January 15, couples’ by January 31, and others by February 15. This structured approach will enable personnel to plan for family and educational needs well in advance, ensuring a smoother transition between postings.

Since 2017, CISF has expanded from 1.5 lakh to over 1.9 lakh personnel, with its operational footprint growing to 359 units. The force now handles new responsibilities, including jail security and the Parliament House Complex. This growth underscores the need for continuous skill enhancement to counter emerging threats, such as drone technology and cyberattacks.

These experts will receive advanced training at top institutions and work to implement world-class security solutions aligned with international standards, such as those of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Specialized personnel, including training instructors, K9 experts, and sports professionals, will undergo a rigorous selection process and annual performance reviews to ensure excellence. Deputations to other security organizations and international missions will further enhance their multidisciplinary competence.
CISF is also focusing on promoting sports excellence by collaborating with the National Sports Federation. Athletes within the force will receive professional coaching and undergo performance reviews, encouraging their growth and success across multiple disciplines.

The policy aims to balance operational efficiency with personal needs, offering choice postings during key phases of service, such as children’s education and pre-retirement years. Regional representation will be maintained, with 60% of personnel from home sectors and 40% from other regions, preserving the force’s all-India character.
