CISF personnel apprehend fake job scammer at IGI Airport

New Delhi: The CISF official on Sunday said that they had busted a job scam racket and held a person in this connection from the Terminal 3 area of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. A senior CISF official said that on July 5, at about 3 pm their surveillance team observed suspicious activity of a visitor.

The man was later identified as Pawan Bairwa. He was roaming near the departure alighting area. An official said, “We kept him under observation through physical and electronic means. On observing his suspicious activities he was intercepted and on questioning, he failed to provide satisfactory answers. Later, it was revealed that he and three or four associates had arrived for a job interview scam at Encalm Pvt Ltd. in IGI Airport Terminal-03.”

The official said that on checking his documents and phone, some suspicious transactions were found on his PhonePe account, leading to a confession of involvement in a job scam. The CISF also found out about one of their victims Chitranjan Kumar. The victim claimed that he paid 25,000 online to Bairwa for a job opportunity.

Bairwa admitted to receiving the payment and implicating others in the scam. The official confirmed that Bairwa was later handed over to the IGI police station for further legal action. An FIR has been lodged in this under sections 2023-3(5), 316(2), 318(4), of The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), at I.G.I Airport, PS.
