The search operations were undertaken in accordance with a search warrant acquired from the respected Special Judge designated under the NIA Act
SRINAGAR: On Thursday, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) division of the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police carried out search operations at five different locations within the Kupwara, Srinagar, Anantnag, and Pulwama districts.
The search operations were undertaken in accordance with a search warrant acquired from the respected Special Judge designated under the NIA Act in Srinagar, and this warrant was registered with the CIK Srinagar Police Station.
According to a press statement issued by the CIK, “The case pertains to a deep conspiracy hatched by terrorist organisation(s) with their associates in Kashmir valley in connivance with handlers sitting across who are uploading criminal content on different social media platforms which are seditious in nature by way of glorifying/glamorising terrorists and also inciting and luring gullible youths to take up arms against sovereignty of India by joining terrorist ranks.”

A senior police official of the CIK Wing of J&K Police while talking to the New Indian said that, “During preliminary investigation it has been revealed that this syndicate had designed a modus operandi wherein the victim’s name was published.
“She/he was then profiled, giving detailed information on how and why they could be a legitimate target for Pakistani terrorists. Subsequently, their actual elimination was carried out by Pakistani-sponsored terrorists. This syndicate was working to further sustain terrorist activities in Kashmir through intellectual and digital means.”
The official further said, “This syndicate was also profiling bonafide government servants working in Kashmir and perpetually kept issuing threats, sometimes open and sometimes veiled to harm their person, reputation or properties in order to prevent them from performing their lawful duties.”
During the course of preliminary investigation and scrutinisation of the Facebook accounts, it came to light that this terrorist syndicate was promoting a feeling of enmity and disharmony among different religious and regional groups in order to provoke the youth to indulge in violence and disturb the peace and tranquility of Kashmir.
Throughout the searches, evidence, including electronic devices and other items relevant to the case under investigation, were discovered and confiscated.
The statement added, “Analysis of the data would follow and leads that would emerge would become the basis for further investigation.”
