NEW DELHI: The Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court denies bail to Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, a prominent religious leader arrested on sedition charges. Following his detention on Monday, the court has ordered judicial custody, ensuring Das receives all religious privileges during his confinement. The police did not request a remand for further questioning.

Chinmoy Krishna Das, the president of Pundarik Dham and a former spokesperson for the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), faces allegations related to a recent rally in Chittagong, where a saffron flag was raised—a move authorities equate with sedition. Alongside 17 others, he has been charged for his role in the event, which authorities claim incited unrest.

He has consistently highlighted concerns about attacks on Hindu communities and called for governmental accountability. His recent Chittagong rally drew significant attention for its demands but also controversy over its symbolism.
