China Applying Russia’s Ukraine Principle To India: Rahul Gandhi’s Caution On Chinese Aggression

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to appear before ED on June 13

NEW DELHI: Cautioning the government against the Chinese aggression along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said China was applying the same that Russia had done to Ukraine.

Speaking to media persons after meeting veteran leader Sharad Yadav at his residence here, Gandhi drew a parallel between Donetsk & Luhansk and Ladakh & Arunachal Pradesh, and said that “the government is not accepting the reality”.

“Russia says that they don’t accept the territoriality of Ukraine, they don’t consider the Donetsk and Luhansk regions as parts of Ukraine. Russia attacked Ukraine on that basis. What is the aim? Break the alliance of NATO-Ukraine-US,” he said.

He further said, “China is applying the same principle to India.”

“China is saying that Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh are not yours (India’s) and they have deployed their troops there. Government is ignoring this. But we have a model (Russia-Ukraine). That model can be applied here too,” the Congress leader said.

He demanded the government to “accept the reality” of the situation along the LAC and make preparations accordingly. “Because if we are not prepared, we won’t be able to react when things go bad,” he suggested.

Pointing out at India’s present economic situation, Rahul Gandhi said, “You can’t imagine India’s economic situation and job condition. Never in your life would you have seen what is coming next. The employment structure of this country, the backbone is broken. Small and medium business, small shopkeepers, informal sector is our backbone.”

He asserted that economists and bureaucrats take ideas from other countries and try to implement those ideas in India which, he said, would not succeed.

Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, who is a Lok Sabha MP from Kerala’s Wayanad said, “The Prime Minister says we have to become like them. It can’t be done like that.”

“First, we have to realise who we are and what’s happening here. They have broken the backbone, terrifying results would be seen in the next 3-4 years,” he said.

Gandhi also said that the situation of the country was very bad as highlighted by former union minister Sharad Yadav.

“I agree with what Sharad Yadav said today that the country is in a very bad situation. Hatred is being spread and country is being divided. We have to bring the nation together and once walk on the path of the brotherhood which has been a part of our history,” he said.

Additionally, amid calls for a new Congress president, Sharad Yadav on Friday advocated Rahul Gandhi for the post in the party.

Answering a question related to the Congress chief, Sharad Yadav said, “Why not? If somebody runs Congress round the clock, it is Rahul Gandhi. I think he should be made the party president. Only then can something big be done.”

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi responded to same question by saying, “We’ll see.”
