Chief Operations Officer Of Bhutan Army Calls On New Def Secy Giridhar Aramane

Lt Gen Batoo Tshering, Chief Operations Officer of the Royal Bhutan Army, called on newly appointed Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane on Tuesday.

Aramane took charge of the office on Tuesday, immediately after Ajay Kumar’s retirement on Monday. Before assuming the role, Aramane laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi and paid homage to the fallen heroes.

Lt Gen Tshering also visited the National War Memorial on Tuesday and laid a wreath at the Memorial. He also received a ceremonial guard of honour at the South Block.

In addition to discussing measures for enhancing defence cooperation between both armies, Lt. Gen. Tshering also met with General Manoj Pande, the Chief of Army Staff, and exchanged views on the current global situation, and security perspectives.

Lt Gen Tshering arrived on an official visit to India on October 28 and will depart on Wednesday. During his India visit, the Chief Operations Officer of the Royal Bhutan Army reviewed the Passing Out Parade at the Officers Training Academy, Chennai, on October 29, 2022.

Aramane is a 1988-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre. Prior to his current assignment, he was posted as the Secretary, of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.

“We draw inspiration from these bravehearts and promise to work towards fulfilling their dream of making India a safe and prosperous country,” Aramane said during his visit to the National War Memorial in the capital.

Aramane has held various important portfolios in the Central Government as well as the Andhra Pradesh government. He was an Additional Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. Apart from the Cabinet Secretariat, Shri Aramane looked after the Exploration Division in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and was Executive Director in charge of inspections in the Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority.

Aramane had previously served in the Andhra Pradesh government as Principal Secretary in the Urban Development Department, Managing Director of the AP State Finance Corporation, and Secretary (Finance Department).

During his administrative tenure in Andhra Pradesh, he also served as the Collector and District Magistrate of the Chittoor and Khammam districts.

Aramane completed his B Tech in Civil Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad and his M Tech from IIT, Madras. He also holds an MA (Economics) from Kakatiya University, Warangal.
