The Chhattisgarh CM is slated to take his oath on Wednesday afternoon

NEW DELHI: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister-elect Vishnu Deo Sai is slated to attend his oath-taking ceremony on Wednesday, following his selection as the first tribal CM in the state.

The ceremony is slated to be held at the Science College Ground, in Raipur, this afternoon.

Sai is slated to take his oath in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath. In a surprising twist to the tale, former CM Bhupesh Baghel, former Deputy CM TS Singh Deo and Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Deepak, have also been invited to attend the event.

Among the other leaders, CMs from the BJP-led states of Assam and Uttarakhand — Himanta Biswa Sarma and Pushkar Singh Dhami, respectively — are also slated to attend the ceremony. While addressing the media, Sarma illustrated immense confidence in Sai to fulfil all his promises. “I can say with confidence that BJP will fulfil all its promises in the state,” the Assam CM remarked.

On the other hand, the event is also slated to be attended by JP Nadda, the National President of the saffron party.

However, till now, nobody has been nominated for the post of Deputy CM in the state.

Presently, over 10,000 police personnel have been posted along the fringes of the Science College Ground’s premises, ahead of the ceremony.

Earlier, the senior BJP leaders, slated to attend Sai’s oath-taking ceremony in Raipur, were present in Bhopal to attend Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav’s ceremony.

During the course of his being selected as the CM in the state, BJP central observers Sarbananda Sonowal and Arjun Munda conducted a meeting in Raipur before the official announcement.

He claimed a decisive victory from the Kunkuri constituency against Congress’ UD Minj with 87,604 votes, claiming his win with a margin of 25,541 votes.
