NITI Ayog appreciates Sukhvinder singh Sukhu for disaster management in Himachal Pradesh

SHIMLA: Following the efforts of the World Bank, Niti Aayog has applauded Himachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for his proactive leadership in effectively handling the aftermath of the devastating torrential rains in the state.The state has encountered damages exceeding INR 12,000 crore in the ongoing monsoon period that had wreaked havoc on the state, resulting in huge loss of life and property.

According to a government representative’s statement on Thursday, in a letter, NITI Aayog’s Vice Chairman, Suman K. Bery, acknowledged the praiseworthy efforts of the Himachal Pradesh government, disaster management teams, and other agencies in providing relief to those in need through a letter.

The letter read, “The Himachal Pradesh Government, along with Disaster Management Teams and other involved parties, has shown praiseworthy dedication in providing aid to the affected. Niti Aayog stands prepared to extend any possible support to the state during these trying circumstances.”

It further expressed NITI Aayog’s willingness to offer full assistance to the state during these challenging times and highlighted the shocking tragedy that has led to significant damage to agriculture, livelihoods, and infrastructure in the state. Recognizing the severity of the situation, NITI Aayog assured its unwavering support to the people of Himachal Pradesh in this crisis.

Amid the prevailing challenges for Hiamchal, several states have extended their unwavering support to facilitate Himachal Pradesh’s recovery from the calamitous aftermath of heavy rains, floods, and landslides during this monsoon season. As a display of unity, on thursday, the Tamil Nadu government generously contributed Rs. 10 crore to the Aapada Rahat Kosh-2023, recognizing the magnitude of the devastation.

In response, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu conveyed his profound appreciation to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of Tamil Nadu. He fervently called upon the general populace to contribute generously to the Aapada Rahat Kosh-2023, thus ensuring maximum relief for the affected families.

After receiving accolades from NITI Aayog, Chief Minister Sukhu expressed his heartfelt gratitude. He articulated that such recognition serves as a motivational driving force propelling the relief and rescue operations forward. He disclosed the staggering losses exceeding. He reassured that dedicated endeavors were being relentlessly pursued to extend comprehensive support to the affected families. With unity at its core, he affirmed the state’s resilience and its inevitable resurgence through collaborative efforts of its citizens.
