NEW DELHI: The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has announced that Class 10 board exams will be held twice a year starting from 2026.
The board has released a draft guideline, and people can share their opinions before March 9, after which the final policy will be decided.
The new system will have two exam sessions. The first session will take place from February 17 to March 6, and the second session will be held between May 5 and 20.
Both exams will cover the full syllabus, and students will take the exams at the same centre for both sessions. However, students will need to pay for both exams when they apply.
Both exam sessions will also act as supplementary exams, which means no special exams will be held in any situation.
This change is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which suggests improving board exams to reduce stress and help students focus on their skills rather than just memorization.
With this new system, students will have two chances to take the examโone as their main attempt and the second if they want to improve their scores.
This will help reduce stress and give students more flexibility. The exams will also be designed so that students who attend classes regularly and put in average effort will pass without much difficulty.
This move is expected to make exams less stressful and give students more opportunities to do well in their studies.
