CBI Arrests 8 For Alleged Malpractice In NEET-UG 2022 Exams

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday said that it has arrested eight persons, including the mastermind Sushil Ranjan for alleged malpractice in the NEET-UG 2022 examination conducted on Sunday.

CBI spokesperson RC Joshi said, “The agency arrested eight persons including the mastermind from Delhi and Haryana.”

The arrested persons included Sushil Ranjan, Krishna Shankar Yogi, Sunny Ranjan, Nidhi, Jeepu Lal, Raghunandan, Bharat Singh and Saurabh.

He said that the arrest comes after the agency registered a case against Ranjan, Brij Mohan Singh, Pappu, Uma Shankar Gupta, Nidhi, Krishna Shankar Yogi, Sunny Ranjan, Raghunandan, Jeepu Lal, Hemendra, Bharat Singh and unknown others.

In the FIR it was alleged that NEET UG 2022 is being conducted on July 17 in offline mode as a uniform entrance examination from 2 pm to 5.20 pm.

The FIR further said that information further revealed that Ranjan, a resident of Delhi’s Gautamnagar, Brij Mohan Singh, Pappu, Uma Shankar Gupta and unknown others in criminal conspiracy with each other are involved in arranging solvers who will impersonate themselves as real candidates in the exam at several exam centres of Delhi and Haryana.

“The impersonators will appear in the NEET UG Exam, 2022 in place of actual candidates and give the exam in lieu of huge money,” the FIR stated.

It further said that the user IDs and passwords of the candidates appearing for the examination have been collected by the suspect persons and their associates and necessary modifications have been made for getting desired examination centres as planned by them.

“They also use the process of mixing or morphing photographs to facilitate the use of proxy candidates for appearing in the examination. Copies of Identity Cards of candidates are being collected for the purpose of making forged ID cards,” it alleged.

The CBI said that information Nidhi, Sunny Ranjan, Krishna Shankar Yogi, Raghunandan, Jeepu Lal, Hemendra and Bharat Singh will appear as solvers impersonating the candidates in the NEET (UG) 2022 exam at various centres located in Delhi and Haryana.
