Cattle Smuggling: CBI Searches 13 Locations In Bengal

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday carried out searches at 13 locations in West Bengal and recovered cash to the tune of ₹17 lakhs in connection with its probe on illegal cattle smuggling.

A CBI spokesperson in New Delhi said that the agency conducted searches at 13 locations including in Kolkata and Birbhum district of West Bengal at the premises of two persons.

“During searches, cash of ₹17 lakhs, electronic devices including 10 mobile phones, pen drives, hard disc besides several incriminating documents and locker key have been recovered,” the official said.

The official said that the premises of Mohammad Nazzibuddin aka Tulu Mondal, Abdul Karim Khan and Jiyaula Haque Sekh aka Mukto etc have been searched.

In September 2020, CBI filed a case against BSF commandant Satish Kumar and several others in connection with the illegal cattle trade along the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal. Kumar and another accused Enamul Haque were arrested by the CBI.
