NEW DELHI: The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully seized a large consignment of heroin near the Fazilka border in Punjab. Acting on crucial intelligence provided by its intelligence wing, the BSF launched a precisely coordinated search operation that resulted in the recovery of 10 packets of suspected heroin, weighing approximately 5.730 kg.
The operation unfolded in the early hours of March 16. Acting on a vital tip-off, BSF troops initiated a meticulously planned search operation at around 2:40 AM in a farming field near village Dhani Natha Singh Wala, located in Fazilka district.
During the search, BSF personnel discovered 10 packets of heroin concealed in the field. Each packet was carefully wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, with improvised copper wire loops and illumination strips attached. These methods are commonly used by smugglers to facilitate easier identification during cross-border drops at night.
The successful operation highlights the BSFโs unwavering vigilance and dedication to safeguarding Indiaโs borders. The narcotics seizure is seen as a major setback for the cross-border narco-syndicate operating in the region.
A BSF spokesperson praised the intelligence wing for its timely input, which played a pivotal role in the success of the operation.
