The operation unfolded in the early hours of March 16. Acting on a vital tip-off, BSF troops initiated a meticulously planned search operation at around 2:40 AM in a farming field near village Dhani Natha Singh Wala, located in Fazilka district.

During the search, BSF personnel discovered 10 packets of heroin concealed in the field. Each packet was carefully wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, with improvised copper wire loops and illumination strips attached. These methods are commonly used by smugglers to facilitate easier identification during cross-border drops at night.

The successful operation highlights the BSFโ€™s unwavering vigilance and dedication to safeguarding Indiaโ€™s borders. The narcotics seizure is seen as a major setback for the cross-border narco-syndicate operating in the region.

A BSF spokesperson praised the intelligence wing for its timely input, which played a pivotal role in the success of the operation.

An official document highlighted that โ€œThis successful operation underscores the meticulous vigilance, true professionalism and unwavering commitment of BSF in curbing transborder smuggling activities. The steadfast efforts once again highlight the BSFโ€™s relentless pursuit of national security and its commitment to securing the International Border.โ€

Growing Drug Threat Along Border

Punjabโ€™s border districts, including Fazilka, have been witnessing rising attempts by international drug cartels to push contraband into India. The BSF, which guards Indiaโ€™s western front along the Pakistan border, has consistently foiled multiple such attempts with proactive intelligence and swift action.

National Security Efforts

This latest recovery reflects the BSFโ€™s relentless efforts to curb trans-border smuggling activities. Security forces remain on high alert, ensuring that criminal elements fail in their attempts to destabilize national security.

Authorities have initiated further investigation to trace the network behind the heroin consignment and apprehend those responsible for the smuggling attempt. The BSF has reiterated its commitment to maintaining vigilance and ensuring the safety of citizens along Indiaโ€™s international borders.
