NEW DELHI: Early this morning, Border Security Force (BSF) troops have successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the International Border (IB) in the Pathankot sector and have neutralized a Pakistani intruder. The incident took place at the border outpost (BoP) in the Tashpatan area, where BSF troops have detected suspicious movement near the border fence.
On 26 Feb 2025 at pre dawn, BSF troops observed suspicious movement wherein an intruder was observed crossing the IB in district Pathankot, Punjab. He was challenged by alert troops but paid no heed. According to an official statement from the BSF, โOn 26th Feb 2025, at pre-dawn, BSF troops observed a suspicious movement across the IB in BOP Tashpatan, Pathankot border area & a intruder was observed crossing IB, he was challenged by the alert troops but paid no heed & kept on moving; BSF troops sensing threat neutralised the intruder. The identity & motive of the intruder is being ascertained. Vigilant BSF troops thwarted an infiltration attempt. Strong protest will be lodged with Pak Rangersโ

BSF authorities confirmed that a strong protest would be lodged with the Pakistan Rangers after the incident. Officials have also heightened security measures along the border to prevent further infiltration attempts.
This region has previously witnessed similar infiltration attempts by Pakistani terrorists, who carried out attacks after crossing the border.
